Brief introduction of glass fiber cloth used for fiberglass radome
Wuhan University of Technology has created a company specializing in the production of fiberglass radomes. This article gives a brief introduction to the fiberglass cloth used as the raw material of the radomes by our company. In addition to the alkali-free glass fiber untwisted coarse gauze (GB/T18370-2001) and E-glass fiber cloth for printed boards (GB/T18373-2001), the physical and chemical properties of other alkali-free glass fiber cloth are specified by JC/T170-2002 standard (see Table 1 below) and the tensile breaking strength (see Table 2 below).

1. Plain weave: Each warp and weft yarn of this kind of cloth passes under one yarn and presses on another. Glass yarn has the largest curl, so its strength is lower than that of forged or twill cloth. This kind of cloth is straight and not easy to deform, so it is suitable for manufacturing FRP products with simple profile curve, especially laminated FRP.
2. Twill weave This kind of cloth is characterized by twill across the cloth surface. It has good paving property. It uses the hand lay-up method to pave the glass fiber reinforced plastics with double curved surfaces or concave and convex surfaces, and has high strength in all directions.
3. Satin weave: This kind of cloth has almost only warp or weft on its surface. When each yarn in one direction passes through, three, seven or eleven yarns can be passed. Glass fiber yarn has the smallest curl, so its strength is high. Satin cloth is similar to twill cloth, which has good covering property, and is suitable for hand lay-up of fiberglass products with complex surface.
4. Unidirectional fabric uses more yarn per unit width in one direction (generally in the warp direction), and less yarn per unit width in the other direction (in the weft direction), so the strength of the warp direction is much greater than that of the weft direction. According to the requirements of the glass glass steel products, the strength of the warp and weft can be determined in advance, such as 4:1, 7:1, etc.
