Internal Structure of a Forced-Draft Cooling Tower

Induced-draft cooling towers are essential cooling equipment for wet‑process metallurgical operations, with a fully FRP shell. The tower comprises seven major components: an FRP tower body, FRP beams and grating, an induced‑draft fan system, a wind‑guiding device, a spray‑distribution system, a droplet‑capture and mist‑removal unit, a crystallization‑removal system, and a collection sump. The tower is modular in design; it was originally jointly developed and implemented by the former Wuhan University of Technology, the Changsha Nonferrous Metallurgy Design Institute, and the Zhuzhou Smelter in Hunan, representing a domestic first. Thanks to its high cooling efficiency and excellent corrosion resistance, this FRP cooling tower has now completely replaced earlier concrete cooling towers or steel‑lined FRP cooling towers. It has become a standard, indispensable piece of equipment for wet‑process metallurgy in China’s nonferrous metals industry.
